IMMERSIVE TOUR of 20th-century Florence
An exclusive experience to relive the emotions
and atmosphere of the past, from the 1930s to the Flood of '66
Guests will experience an exciting journey through the history of Florence, guided by a vivid and evocative narrative that takes shape through the projection of over 150 images from the archives. An evocative and engaging journey lasting about an hour, immersing visitors in the emotions and atmosphere of each era: from Fascist Florence to the post-war period, from the fabulous 1950s with fashion shows in the Sala Bianca of Palazzo Pitti, where Italian fashion was born, to the great Hollywood stars who strolled through the city and the tragic flood of 1966.
Frame by frame, the transformation of the city is revealed in a visual narrative: a sequence of crystallized moments that invites you to immerse yourself in the experience and spirit of an entire community.
The experience is led by Erika Ghilardi, director of the Archivio Storico Foto Locchi, who has dedicated her career to the preservation and promotion of Florence's visual memory for almost thirty years.
Among the projects she has curated are exhibitions such as Fashion in Florence and The Elegance of Speed at the Uffizi Galleries - Palazzo Pitti, which have helped to raise awareness of the extraordinary value of the Archive around the world.
During the experience, you will be introduced to the Foto Locchi Historical Archives, observing the photographers' original diaries and negatives up close, authentic witnesses to a century of Florentine life.
Moments of dialogue and reflection will make the visit a participatory and personal experience. Discovering this extraordinary photographic heritage will allow participants to leave the experience with a deep emotional connection to Florence and a new awareness of its history.
The venue for the experience is located in the heart of Florence, between Palazzo Vecchio and the Duomo, inside a historic building that belonged to the family of Gemma Donati, wife of Dante Alighieri.
From its windows, you can admire the church of Santa Margherita dei Cerchi, known as “Dante's church.”
